Convenor :: Stephen Blake The committee seeks to raise the awareness of young men and women and those that work with young people, of the rich opportunities offered to promote community service, facilitate greater international understanding; identify and develop the leaders of tomorrow; the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), Youth Exchange and a range of cultural and sporting activities: actively facilitate the promotion of the wide range of Youth Activities to enable young people of all ages to enjoy the challenges offered and to develop strong bonds of friendship with other participants; and develop a regular and on-going dialogue with young men and women to help them to articulate and realise their hopes, dreams and expectations. In general, our Club's committee endeavours to establish strong relationships with schools and youth organisations in our locality. Apart from sending two young people, one male and one female, to RYLA camps, this committee seeks ways to encourage young people to achieve the highest standards in what they do.
The annual Youth Music Event is a very successful evening when members of the public are entertained by the excellent musical talents of pupils from the local primary schools and the Academy. Not only a good night enjoying the skills of these youngsters, it is a significant fund-raising event, the profits of which will go, as last year, towards providing sports bursaries for local sports people under the age of 16 years. |
