Whilst Rotary International exists as an organisation to create opportunities of fellowship between individuals and communities, it is given moral purpose by its fund-raising activities, This usually means raising funds to benefit other organisations. However Rotary International has its own charity which supports specific Rotary Projects, the Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programmes.

This Avenue of Service encourages Rotarians to think of their service to the international community and TRF is a means to that end. The growth of the Foundation's educational and humanitarian programmes in recent times is a reflection of increasing awareness of human needs world-wide. The Foundation helps to provide resources and volunteers to relieve those needs.

The Rotary Foundation has the following programmes:-

  • Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships
  • Grants for University Teachers to serve in Developing Countries
  • Group Study Exchange
  • Matching Grants for International Humanitarian Projects
  • Disaster Relief Grants
  • Health, Hunger and Humanity Grants
  • Grants for Rotary Volunteers
  • Polio Plus
  • Peace Programmes

It is hoped that this year our fund-raising activities will be augmented by a Will Service whereby Rotary solicitors will do a basic Will at no fee but will seek a donation to Rotary Foundation. More details of this will be found on this page once the scheme has been organised.
